Real Techniques Triangle Foundation Brush 101 Review | Nat

I'm sure most of you have heard about the well known makeup brush brand Real Techniques which was designed by the wonderful Pixiwoo Sisters. Most beauty fanatics deem their brushes a MUST-HAVE ITEM and I couldn't agree more. Almost all the brushes I use are from their basic line and they do a great job at an affordable price too. However, I'm not here to talk about their basic collection, I'm here to talk about their premium collection which is called the Bold Metals Collection. I invested in their Triangle Foundation Brush (101) which costs £22 to see if it's worth the extra money.

The Bold Metals collection is far more expensive that their original line, however it is aimed more towards professionals who may be after more intricate detail etc etc.

You cannot deny that the design is beautiful! The brushes that are used for the face are gold which also runs into the bristles of the brush. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! The brush has a twisted diamond shape on the handle to prevent it from rolling away. Another thing I love about the handle is that it is far slimmer than their original line so its so much simpler to store. The brush is also weighted to make it far more comfortable in your hand - this is one feature I LOVE in this brush and it instantly shows why the brush was pricer than their original line. The hairs are synthetic to keep up with their cruelty free ideology which is great, as well as being individually tapered. This allows the brush to be incredibly (and I mean incredibly) soft... if you thought their original brushes were soft wait until you've felt these it's amazing! These are features of all of the brushes in the new collection so lets get onto the triangle foundation brush!

As you can see, and tell my the name of the brush, it is a triangle shape. This allows for versatile application. The largest, flat side of the brush allows you to sweep the product from the centre of your face and apply coverage to the areas that you need foundation. Unfortunately, I found the application to be very streaky which is not what I want from a £22 brush however this is something that can be resolved. If you use the top of the brush you can buff away any lines, allowing for an even coverage. the smaller, angled side of the brush is perfect to fit into the crevices of your face such as under your eyes or side of your nose. Below is a video by the pixiwoo sisters demonstrating how to use the brush.

Overall, I do like the brush however I don't think it was worth the pricetag. If you're the kind of girl that likes good coverage, it gives you that (my favourite foundation with this brush was Revlon Colourstay), but you're it's going to take you a long time to get it. I want to love this brush because it's beautiful but if I was you, I'd opt for another brush from their collection. Or if you're after a foundation brush, stick with their original line - the Expert Face brush is my favourite (and it's cheap!)

So what are your thoughts? Have you tried the new Bold Metals collection? What brush do you want or recommend?
